What happens in the first session?
During our initial meeting an assessment, charged at £25, will be provided where we can look at what’s going on in your life right now that has lead you to explore counselling. You don’t need to prepare anything for this session but it might be helpful to think about what goals or expectations you have from therapy. It’s also an opportunity for you to meet me and see whether I’m the right counsellor for you. We can talk about how I work and talking with me will give you an idea of what our sessions might be like.
How long are the sessions, and how often should we meet?
The session lasts 50 minutes, and the number of sessions will always be mutually agreed but I suggest weekly, especially for the first 6 sessions.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on what you’d like to get out of coming to therapy and any goals that you’ve set. There is absolutely no minimum or maximum but I usually recommend we meet initially for 6 to 8 sessions, review how things are going and go from there. There’s no predetermined number of sessions; some people come to counselling to focus on one specific issue or challenge and will come for relatively short-term therapy, whereas others will prefer longer term work to help them work through several issues or perhaps more deep rooted work.
Whatever you choose we will work together to agree how many sessions are right for you so we know when counselling will come to an end. By mutual agreement we will arrange a day and time each week.
When are you available?
I am available by appointment from Monday to Friday, 9h00 until 19h00, I have some evening appointments available until 20h00 on request.
How much will it cost?
The price is £50 per session during daytime and evening, across the week without additional charges. Payment can be made by cash or bank transfer on the day. The Initial assessment is charged at a fix rate for of £25.
I offer a concession fee at £35 per session for mean tested benefit (jobseeker allowance, universal credit, student and carers ), but please be aware that these appointments are limited and only available at certain times. Si vous etes Francophones le prix reduits de £35 vous sera offert.
